Final Edits

Today, we will be doing two things:
1. Find, edit, and save the photos you plan to use in the newspaper -- have a minimum of two per page

  • Select keepers from the different events we covered
  • Discard all "non-keeper" images
  • Limit all photos to approx. 5x7 inches
  • If using online images, use only creative commons as a source, and provide a photo credit!
  • Place all edited photos in the "For Paper" folder

2. Perform a final edit of your articles. This will involve three steps:

  • Review the current length of the article with the person responsible for editing the page. if the article needs to be shortened, determine how much should be trimmed -- determine an accurate word count for the article. Highlight how long you want the article to be, and copy this to word. Then, check the word count
  • Review the peer editing performed on your article from earlier this week
  • Check my voice comments (available starting this afternoon).
  • When you rewrite / shorted / edit for the final time, you MUST clearly identify the changes you made and explain how they addressed the weaknesses we identified. If this is not done, a. you won't get credit for the assignment and b. your article won't be placed in the paper.
  • PUT THE REVISED DRAFT OF YOUR ARTICLES IN THE CORRECT FOLDER IN YOUR STUDENT DRIVE SO I CAN SEE THEM
